Village at Winona Festival of Music to present Jazz Fest

Jazz Fest, the first of six Village at Winona Festival of Music concerts this summer, will take place on Sat., June 18 at 7 p.m. in the Winona Heritage Room, 901 Park Ave, Winona Lake. In coordination with the Village at Winona Exotic Car Show, Jazz Fest will feature two big bands, Truth in Jazz and New Millennium Jazz Orchestra. Tickets will be sold at the door; prices are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $5 for students.
Truth in Jazz, an 18-piece big band, was established in 1998 in Elkhart, Ind. and is directed by Steve Allen. New Millennium Jazz Orchestra, directed by Ed King II, is based in Fort Wayne and includes 19 professional musicians.
Marty Becker is the Festival of Music coordinator. “Two exciting, professional big bands will present the best in cool jazz and nostalgic sounds from the big band era,” said Becker. “Jazz Fest will be an event to relax, unwind and enjoy the great sounds of live music.”
Grace College, Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts and the Village at Winona have partnered to bring the community high-quality, family-friendly concerts throughout the summer. The first annual Festival of Music will include six concerts from June 18 through Sept. 3. In addition to Jazz Fest, the festival will feature pop, ragtime, barbershop, band and chamber music.
