Sectional finals this week for most schools

NORTHEAST INDIANA — With two weeks of postseason football in the books, certain trends have emerged. Some high school football conferences have several schools still in play for the ultimate goal.Others have had many of their teams fall out of the race.

Northeast Hoosier Conference

With two weeks gone, four Northeast Hoosier Conference (NHC) schools remain.Carroll defeated Warsaw for a Class 6A sectional title. Now, the Chargers will take on Carmel this week for a regional championship. Two of the other three remaining NHC schools will play one another for a sectional crown. In Class 4A, New Haven, the conference’s regular season champion, will play Norwell. The streaky Knights have won six in a row, but the Bulldogs will host the championship game. The final remaining NHC school is East Noble. The Knights will take on a Summit Athletic Conference (SAC) school in the championship when they travel to Fort Wayne Dwenger.Dwenger has beaten East Noble twice in the past six seasons in postseason play. However, 10 years ago the Knights beat the Saints at semi-state on their way to the only state title in school history. There are five Northeast Hoosier Conference schools remaining after week one.In Class 4A action, the Dwenger/East Noble winner will play the New Haven/Norwell winner.
