C.C. Vet wins Coaches Pitch baseball finals

COLUMBIA CITY — “There’s a reason they play the game.”That old-time phrase proved true Tuesday night at Morsches Park in Columbia City’s Coaches Pitch Championship game.Despite falling to the No. 1 seed, Trok & Krider, by an 11-4 score in the regular season, C.C. Veterinary Hospital (seeded third) pulled through for a 6-5 win to go home with the tournament title.“We knew it would be a tough game,” Head Coach Cory Patrick said. “We’ve seen them play and they’re pretty solid.”C.C. Vet came out swinging — putting up four runs in the top of the first inning with the first four batters.“That was the way to start the game,” Patrick said. “It got the kids off on the right foot. “We’ve always played better if we’ve had a good start.”To read the rest of this story, see the July 3-4 issue of The Post and Mail.
