'CATS FALL: Apaches beat Whitko, 61-49

WABASH — Whitko’s boys basketball team fell to Wabash Friday night, 61-49.
Despite holding the lead in the first half, the Wildcats struggled through the third quarter, resulting in the loss.
Wabash had a 15-14 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Whitko came back to take a 32-29 advantage at the half.

PERFECT IN CONFERENCE: 'Busco beats CN to go 6-0 in league, 15-2 overall

ALBION — The Class 2A No. 7-ranked Churubusco Eagles boys basketball team took another step toward a regular-season conference title by running past the Central Noble Cougars 77-54 on Friday night.
The win puts the Eagles at 6-0 in the Northeast Corner Conference to lead the pack and 15-2 overall.

EAGLES RAKE BULLDOGS: Ugly game, but 13-point victory

NEW HAVEN — It wasn’t pretty, but unlike figure skating basketball teams don’t get style points. The Columbia City Eagle boys’ basketball squad survived an ugly game with Northeast Hoosier Conference foe New Haven, leaving the Bulldogs’ Armstrong Arena with a 56-43 win.
“You play 24 games in a season,” said Eagle Head Coach Chris Benedict. “They aren’t all going to be pretty, but we found a way to win.”
The Eagles used a strong second quarter and a 21-9 advantage at the free throw line to overcome a first quarter deficit on their way to the win.
