CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s football team will likely have a more difficult path to a victory in this week’s sectional semifinal.
One week after scoring a 28-13 home win against Eastside, the Eagles have to hit the road to play Class 2A 14th-ranked Bremen.
The Lions defeated Manchester 49-21 in their sectional quarterfinal game last week.
Churubusco ended the 2013 regular season ranked ninth.
For both teams, it will be a unique showdown. ’Busco enters 8-2, and Bremen 7-3, but both schools are undefeated against Class 2A competition.
The Eagles lost to Class 3A Fairfield and Lakeland. Bremen lost to Jimtown, a Class 3A school, as well as New Prairie and Plymouth, Class 4A schools.
Both Bremen and Churubusco have been regional champions recently. ’Busco made it to the semi-state round in 2010, falling to Lafayette Central Catholic.
Bremen was regional champion two years ago, falling in semi-state action to the same Fort Wayne Luers team that beat Churubusco in the sectional finals.
