FREMONT— Quick thinking and needed medical equipment helped save a person’s life before Churubusco’s football game Friday night at Fremont.
Dave Crabill, a Whitley County media member and a long-time Eagle football supporter, according to Coach Paul Sade, collapsed on the sidelines during warm-ups.
Whitley County Commissioner Don Amber, who is a former paramedic, was at the game, and when he realized what happened, he went down from the stands to assist, along with Whitley County Sheriff Chief Deputy Marcus Gatton.
“Dave did go into cardiac arrest,” Amber said. “There was an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator), which was proof-positive that they should be everywhere.”
Amber said two members of the Fort Wayne Fire Department, Mike Adams and Bob Amber, were working on the resuscitation.
