COLUMBIA CITY— Growth in the Mihsihkinaahkwa Pow Wow has prompted the city’s electric department to look for power solutions of a more permanent nature.
Columbia City Electric Department Superintendent Shawn Lickey said a permanent breaker will be installed on poles on the north side of the park.
Those permanent breakers should be ready by the spring.
Lickey said the breakers can be used for events such as the pow wow, where a supply of power is needed for a large gathering.
“They can rent temporary service down there,” he said. “We can go turn it on, and then turn it off when they’re done. That way the park department isn’t left carrying the burden of the bill.”
Installing the breaker will not come at much cost for the city, though the exact price will vary based on what type of breaker is selected.
