COLUMBIA CITY — After several years of the dairy club having to dump its milk, Veterinarian and 4-H parent, Dave Brelage, will be purchasing the club's product.
Brelage will be buying the club's milk for 50 cents per gallon — less than they would make if a milkman came to pick it up, but that has been hard to come by.
"Since most of the milk cows go home after the first day of the fair, we don't produce a lot of milk anymore," said Brandy Studebaker, Dairy Club leader.
"It's great to actually make some money off of it."
The club only managed to find one company that would pick up its milk, due to the low quantity.
