Bart Taylor Toomey died Sunday, June 9 2013, at Northeast Georgia’s Medical Center surrounded by family.
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Bart is survived by his wife, Rita; daughter, Brenda (Steve) Kortekamp; grandchildren, Alex, Nick and Brooke Kortekamp; daughter Carlynne Toomey; grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle and Skye; stepdaughter, Candace (Robert) Cole; grandchildren, Bobby, Connor and Andrew Cole; stepdaughter, Nicole (Kelly) Hall; grandchildren, Kristen, Justin and Sean Hall and sister Marilyn Snyder.

Steven W. Clifford, 64, a former resident of Columbia City, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
He was born Aug. 26, 1948 in Fort Wayne, a son of the late Dick L. and Evelyn (Gilbert) Clifford.
Surviving relatives include a son, four granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation or funeral.

Patricia L. Giessler, 83, former resident of rural Columbia City, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Sylvania Care and Rehabilitation Center, Sylvania, Ohio where she had been a resident since July of 2011.
Born June 6, 1930 in Lima, Ohio, she was the third child of Albert E. C. and Olive E. (Wilson) Fritz.
Her formative years were spent in Fort Wayne, rural Columbia City and Toledo, Ohio.
In February of 1949, she married Bobby A. Thompson and made a home in Toledo.

William Max Hurd, 86, of South Whitley, died peacefully at his home Sunday evening, June 9, 2013. He was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Warsaw, a son of the late Chauncey J. and Dessa V. (Anderson) Hurd.
His formative years were spent in the Columbia City area. He began seventh grade at South Whitley where he completed his schooling.
On Dec. 4, 1945, he entered the U.S. Army. He served as a paratrooper in the Pacific Theater and during the occupation of Japan. He was honorably discharged Jan. 11, 1947.

Dale L. Craig Jr., 62, of Albion, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his house on Bear Lake.
Born April 20, 1951 in Elkhart, he was the son of Dale LeRoy Craig Sr. and Marilyn Sue (Pippenger) Craig.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1976 and worked at Dana Corporation in Columbia City for more than 45 years.
On June 20, 1985, he married Susan K. Agler at Bear Lake. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports and NASCAR Sundays.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Edman Michael Anthony Lis, 55, formerly of Chicago, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake, Ill. Monsignor Daniel Hermes will be the celebrant. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, Ill.
The visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m., Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of prayers at 11 a.m., at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.

Mary G. “Jerry” Rothgeb, 91, of Columbia City, died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Parkview Oaks where she had been a resident since April 23.
She was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Rockville, N.Y. a daughter of Orville Adelbert and Frances Pearl (Jerolds) Robinson. As a young girl, her family moved to California for nine years, returning to New York and later Texas. In 1937, they moved to Fort Wayne where she graduated from Central High School.

Robert J. “Bob” Payne, 79, of South Whitley, passed away at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital. Bob was a veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He loved yard work, especially mowing the grass and working in the garden. He loved spending time with his family.
He was born Aug. 9, 1933 in Standards, N.Y., a son of Claude and Martha (Teater) Payne. He was united in marriage to Vivian Tanner Nov. 13, 1954, in Festersville, Pa. He is survived by his wife.

Robert A. Fudge, 95, of Lake Township in Allen County, went peacefully on the morning of Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Hamilton House in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Fudge was born in Eel River Township Sept. 15, 1917, a son of Dean and Pearl (Arnold) Fudge. He graduated from Churubusco High School in 1935.
As a young man, he served during World War II in the U.S. Army’s 12th Armored Division, 714 Tank Battalion A Company, under General George Patton.

Nancy Jayne (Jagger) Nagi passed away April 29, 2013, at her home in Metolius, Ore. She had been battling cancer for more than a year and a half.
She was born Nov. 23, 1957, in Columbia City and attended grade school at Thorncreek School. Her family moved to Bakersfield, Calif. and where she attended and graduated from East High School.
She married Saleh Nagi April 24, 1981. They had three children together.
Nancy worked in nursing homes as an aide and then went into medical records.
