Youth mile run brings more than 550 in 10th year

More than 550 runners competed Friday in the 10th annual Elementary one-mile championships at Morsches Park. The event brings out third through fifth graders from area schools for a race through the park. Six races in all were a part of the annual event. The following are the top three finishers in each race. Boys third grade — Michael Frank (Huntertown) first-place 6:47, Drake Kropf (Roanoke) second 6:48, Wyatt Schroeder (Huntertown) third 7:07. Girls third grade — Jocelyn Willis (Convenant Academy) first-place 7:03, Kaylie Goetz (Cedar Canyon) second 7:20, Katie Haines (Milford) third 7:34. Boys fourth grade — Luke Griner (N. Webster) first-place 6:17, Braxton Alexander (N. Webster) second 6:37, Nolan Gonzalez (Oak View) third 6:40. Girls fourth grade — Cali Geiger (Cedar Canyon) first-place 6:13, Carman Yoder (N. Webster) second 6:58, Jackie Ness (Huntington Catholic) third 7:05. Boys fifth grade — Brady Robinson (N. Webster) first-place 6:07, Connor Goetz (Cedar Canyon) second 6:08, Nick Decker (Northern Heights) third 6:23. Girls fifth grade — Jillian Wood (Moran) first-place 6:55, Maggie Falater (Eel River) second 6:57, Olivia Von Gunten (S. Adams) third 6:57.
