COLUMBIA CITY — High-speed train service through Warsaw is being discussed which could conveniently transport Whitley County residents to Chicago.
According to area media, the Northeast Indiana Passenger Rail Association says a case can be made for high-speed passenger train service that would travel between Columbus, Ohio and Chicago.
Should the service be put in place, stops are being discussed in the following cities: Fort Wayne, Warsaw, Plymouth, Valparaiso and Gary.
The Post & Mail surveyed its Facebook followers to see if passenger train service to Chicago would be of interest to Whitley County residents.
Damon Ressler commented that he felt the service would be used “very little.” According to his perception, passenger trains faltered because there was little demand for the service.
However, other Facebook followers were quick to chime in with supportive comments on the service.
“I think it would be nice,” said Abby Huesman. “I know a lot of people take the train to Chicago from town and have to drive a ways to get on.”
