WIND CHILL ADVISORY

(Feb.27, 2014) -- The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Whitley County until 1 p.m. today.* FALLING TEMPERATURES WILL RESULT IN WIND CHILLS FROM 10 BELOW TO 20 BELOW ZERO THIS MORNING.IMPACTS... * WIND CHILLS THIS LOW CAN RESULT IN FROSTBITE TO EXPOSED SKIN IN AS LITTLE AS 30 MINUTES.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDSWILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT INFROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT ANDGLOVES.ANOTHER ARCTIC FRONT IS CURRENTLY TRACKING ACROSS THE REGION ANDWILL BRING A REINFORCING SHOT OF COLD AIR TODAY. THE COMBINATIONOF THIS COLD AIR AND WINDY CONDITIONS WILL LEAD TO BITTERLY COLDWIND CHILLS AS LOW AS 10 BELOW TO 20 BELOW ZERO DURING THE MORNINGHOURS. IN ADDITION...LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUETHROUGH MUCH OF THE DAY...WITH 1 TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW ACCUMULATIONPOSSIBLE. THIS NEW SNOW COMBINED WITH THE WINDY CONDITIONS WILLLEAD TO AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ALONG WITH SOMESIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED VISIBILITIES DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE.
