SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko newcomer Garrett Elder debuted his varsity Wildcat career in prime fashion in Friday night’s home opener against Three Rivers Conference opponent Manchester.

Elder, a freshman receiver and safety, tacked on two touchdowns in Whitko’s 46-24 win.

Elder transferred from Wawasee High School two weeks ago, and played with the junior varsity squad last week, before seeing varsity minutes Friday.

He caught 2-of-4 passes for 72 yards, and also added some special teams yardage with two kick returns for 22 yards.

Defensively, he had two tackles.

After Manchester scored a quick TD in the opening two minutes of the game, Whitko answered with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Elder with 4:15 to go in the first quarter to tie the game at 7.
