SOUTH WHITLEY — As the town of South Whitley progresses with its Whitley On The Move initiative, partnerships with agencies such as the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation are vital.

Alan Tio, president of the EDC, was present at last week’s town council meeting to share with South Whitley’s leaders how his corporation could benefit the town’s desire to grow.

“We can work together to get a lot of things done,” Tio said. “We are learning from other cities, such as Wabash and Angola, to see what has worked for them.”

One tangible element the EDC can offer the town are resources needed for South Whitley to obtain grants and other funds for its redevelopment.

“It seems like we should talk more about this,” said Town Council President Tony Starkey. “You have the people we need to help us with assessments and studies. These are the types of reports we need to go forward with a lot of our ideas.”
