Whitley Co. YMCA reaches Strong Kids goal

May 8, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — The Whitley County Family YMCA announced recently that it reached its 2013 Strong Kids Campaign goal.

Dan Heise, of Warner Electric, led this year’s volunteers to reach a community campaign goal of $39,000.

The Strong Kids Campaign provides scholarships for programs and memberships to individuals and families in need.

Funds raised directly support the Y’s cause of strengthening communities by ensuring that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

All money raised for the Whitley County Family YMCA Strong Kids Campaign stays in Whitley County.

“Raising the money required to fulfill our mission-based promise takes a tremendous amount of effort and dedication,” said Martin Pastura, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.

“Our Y is very fortunate to have a network of passionate volunteers who give generously of their time enabling us to maximize our community impact as we meet the needs of those who need us the most.”

One-in-seven members or program participants at the Whitley County Family YMCA benefit from this campaign by receiving a scholarship.

“Thank you to the 300 donors that generously gave to our campaign that allows the Y to fulfill our mission of giving back and supporting our neighbors,” said campaign leaders.
