LIGONIER — Despite the weather, Whitko’s girls tennis team scored a victory over West Noble in its opening match of the year.

Whitko’s Aressa Tackwell won the No. 2 singles match, 6-2, 6-2.

The clinching match for the Lady Wildcats was a comeback win at No. 1 doubles. Laura Alfieri and Abby Marshall erased a 3-0 hole in the first set to win 6-4, 6-4.

At No. 3 singles, Erin Murphy lost a hard-fought battle, according to Whitko Head Coach Michael Blevins, and Candice Swick and Miakayla Findley fell in number-two doubles, 1-6, 2-6.
