SOUTH WHITLEY — With summer ending and a new school year soon to begin, high school marching bands are starting to rehearse.
Whitko Marching Pride, with about 30 members for the 2013-14 school year, has been working on their show this week, and will continue next week during the annual band camp.
The camp is dedicated to the learning the year’s marching band show—the music and drill—for eight hours a day, every day, usually for a week.
Three pieces of music, which run for a total of about seven minutes, must be memorized by the band members.
In addition, while the band plays these songs, they move as a unit creating designs on the football field.
