SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko’s girls basketball team fell to visiting Norwell on Thursday night. The Lady Knights defeated the Wildcats by a final margin of 56-34.

The defeat drops Whitko to 5-10 overall on the season. Norwell is now 13-2. The Wildcats remain at 1-3 in the Three Rivers Conference.

The Wildcats kept pace with the Knights in the first quarter, getting key buckets from senior Cagney Craig to keep the score at 11-9 at the end of the first in favor of Norwell.

The Knights broke the game open in the second quarter, though, getting four 3-point shots to increase their advantage to 27-10 at the break.

Norwell increased the lead to 47-21 at the end of three quarters. Whitko narrowed the gap in the fourth, thanks to seven points from Melanie Kelsey in the period, but the Knigthts held on to bring the game to its final margin.

Whitko will be back in action on Saturday for a conference road game against Southwood. Norwell will be at Bellmont on Saturday.
