Whitko falls to Eastbrook in sectional

May 28, 2013

DECATUR — Whitko’s baseball team saw its season come to an end in its sectional opener against Eastbrook Friday.

The Wildcats fell by a final score of 12-7.

Whitko dug a hole and could not get out of it. The Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and did not relinquish the advantage.

“Their leadoff guy reached on an error,” Whitko Head Baseball Coach Erik Hisner said of the first inning. “That kind of set the tone for the game.”

For the contest, the Wildcats had six errors, which led to only one of the four runs Eastbrook scored in the first two innings being earned.

In the bottom of the fourth, Whitko began to fight back. Ethan Nicodemus singled and Zach Snep hit a two-run homer to cut the lead to 4-2.
