Whitko to face North Miami

SOUTH WHITLEY — At the two-thirds mark of the 2013 season, the race for a league championship is on, and Whitko’s football team is in the thick of it in the Three Rivers Conference.

Standing at 4-2 overall, the Wildcats are a spotless 4-0 in the conference and will hit the road Friday to play North Miami. The Warriors are 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the TRC.

Sectional champions one year ago, North Miami has struggled this season, including a 34-21 loss to Southwood last week.

Whitko beat Northfield 34-20 last week to keep its winning streak moving. Currently, the Wildcats have won four in a row.

Last season, Whitko and North Miami played a close game that ended in a 13-10 triumph for the Wildcats. North Miami last won in 2011. Since 2005, the teams have traded wins each year, with the Warriors winning in odd-numbered years and the Wildcats winning in even-numbered years.
