WHITLEY COUNTY (Aug. 13, 2014) -- Here is a snapshot of events in Whitley County today.

•Support group - 5:30 p.m.
The Whitley County Domestic Violence Task Force will hold a victim’s support group every second Wednesday of the month with free childcare provided.Participants will need to go through a screening process before attending the group. For more information, text or call Natalie at 229-8269 or visit

•Farmers market - 4 p.m.
The Whitley County Farmers Market will be located in the Parkview Whitley Medical Plaza parking lot and will offer a variety of fresh produce, crafts and more from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Visit Parkview Whitley Hospital’s booth to receive information on surgery services offered by Parkview Whitley Hospital, along with tips on staying active and eating right.

•Parenting class - 6 p.m.
Parkview Whitley Hospital combines basic parenting information and tips from Parkview’s Safe Slumber program from 6 to 9 p.m. Grandparents are also welcome. Topics will include training in basic infant care, infant CPR, how to interact with your newborn, car seat safety and information on SIDS. A free portable crib, crib sheet, swaddler and pacifiers will be given to those who qualify. Registration is required. Call 248-9321 for more information.
