Westview downs ’Busco girls

CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s girls basketball team lost a consolation game Thursday in the Northeast Corner Conference Tournament.
The Lady Eagles dropped a contest to visiting Westview by a final margin of 70-46.

Churubusco was led in scoring by Jazlyn Needler, who had 16 points. Montana Martin added 12 after hitting her career high of 23 Wednesday.
Westview raced out to a 19-12 lead after one period, and added 19 more in the second to make the margin 38-19 at halftime.

After an even third quarter at 12 points each, Westview edged the Lady Eagles 20-15 in the fourth quarter.

Martin also led Churubusco in rebounds with five. Alisha Farner had two assists to pace the Lady Eagles, and Needler led ’Busco with two steals.
As a team, Westview shot an excellent 9-of-13 from 3-point range as part of its victory effort.

Churubusco is now 6-10 this season. The Lady Eagles will travel to Angola next Friday.
