West Noble downs Churubusco girls, 65-51

December 14, 2013

LIGONIER — An early deficit was too much for Churubusco’s girls basketball team to overcome.

West Noble got off to a hot start in its 65-51 win over the Lady Eagles Friday. The Lady Chargers roared out to an 11-0 start in the first quarter.

From that moment on, ’Busco only scored three fewer points than the host-Lady Chargers. However, the early gap would prove insurmountable.

West Noble’s 11-0 run to open the game turned into a 19-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Chargers had the score out as far as 31-12 at halftime.

Rather than fold, the Lady Eagle offense emerged in the third quarter.

’Busco connected on four 3-pointers in the period to begin to cut into the West Noble lead.

The Lady Chargers were able to maintain the advantage mostly, though, by getting to the free-throw line a number of times in the period. After three quarters, the score was 49-31 in favor of the hosts.
