’Busco golf undefeated after three matches

CHURUBUSCO β€” The Churubusco golf team improved to 3-0 with a 160-172 win over Leo at Eel River Golf Course Wednesday night.

The Eagles were led by Ryan Mayer and Beau Barkley who shot 38 and 39 respectively. Parker Conrad scored a 41 and Brad Martin also had a solid round, carding a 42.

β€œThis was just a tremendous team effort”, said Coach Todd Fry. β€œEvery coach wants this type of consistency from his team and tonight we had it.”

Finishing scoring for the host Eagles was Brandon Norris with a 44 and Landon Pearson with a 49.

The JV ’Busco golf team lost their match to Leo by the score of 171-209. Chase Shearer led the Eagles with a 42. Finishing out the scoring for the Eagles was Jordan Andrews (44), Cody Teusch (56) and Cole Stauffer (67).

Whitko softball loses 15-1 to West Noble

ALBION β€” Whitko’s softball team was defeated by West Noble Wednesday night, 15-1.

Karissa Olinske scored the Lady Wildcats’ sole run after hitting a triple. Olinske, also the pitcher, was batted in with a double by freshman Aly Nicodemus.

The Lady Chargers took the win in the fifth inning by the 10-run-rule.
Whitko’s softball team is back in action Friday at Columbia City.

Churubusco middle school track splits three-way meet
with East Noble and Carroll

CHURUBUSCO β€” Chur-ubusco Middle School’s boys and girls track team placed second in Tuesday night’s three-way home meet. Both teams fell short to East Noble but managed to defeat Carroll.

Leading the teams were Alyssa Anderson, Molly Green, Emily Murphy, Sheldon Shearer, Logan Harris, Michael Rennaker, Caleb Partin and Chance Gallmeier with first-place finishes.

The girls 400-meter relay team of Alyssa Anderson, Molly Green, Cortney Luttman and Elaine Horn also won. Anderson broke the school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.74.

The Eagles compete again Monday at Prairie Heights.
