WCCF awards $196K in grants

December 20, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Several county nonprofit organizations and groups benefited from the Whitley County Community Foundation’s (WCCF) most recent funding session.

The announcement of those receiving the awards comes with one particular sizeable grant of $150,000 to the Whitley County YMCA.

Recently, YMCA officials announced that planning would begin for expanding the current Columbia City location in order to house its full-day childcare center.

The Early Learning Center has been operating out of New Hope Wesleyan Church since it took on the initiative almost two years ago.

“The Whitley County YMCA is committed to seeing young children thrive and have put their beliefs into action by announcing plans for expanding their childcare program and facility,” said September McConnell, executive director for the WCCF.
