Wayne Pettigrew, 61

Wayne R. Pettigrew, 61, of rural Columbia City, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 1, 1952 in Columbia City, a son of Robert Lavere and Norma Jean (Longsworth) Pettigrew.
His formative years were spent in Jefferson Township. He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School.
In January 1972, he began his employment at Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne.
In 1974 he moved to his current home. On Feb. 14, 1985, he was united in marriage to Karen A. Nulf.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Karen; four children, Jami (Chad) Thompson of Warsaw, Chad (Bobbi) Pettigrew of Wolcottville, Angela Foster-Kneller of Columbia City and Brandi (Brandon) Bow of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Trenton Thompson, Jenna Thompson, Syndey Pettigrew, Anna Kneller, Maggie Kneller, Bella Kneller and Drew Reinhart; his mother, Norma Jean Pettigrew of Columbia City; a brother, Tom Pettigrew of Columbia City; and two sisters, Rosalyn Donohue and Rebecca Foster, both of Fort Wayne.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Savanna Pettigrew.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Nolt Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
