Waundean Stangland, 87, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday Sept. 29, 2013.
Born Feb. 17, 1926, in Wolf Lake, she was the daughter of Neil and Loleta (Haney) Hile.
She attended and graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1944.
On June 9, 1945, she married Robert Stangland at Merriam Christian Chapel, Merriam.
Prior to her retirement, she and her husband worked in the Columbia City area and raised their children on the family farm in Etna Troy Township.
She most recently attended West Point Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include her loving husband of 68 years Robert Stangland of Fort Wayne; daughter, Kathy (Mark) Bleeke of Fort Wayne; sons, Dean (Jodi) Stangland of Columbia City, Norm Stangland of East Lansing, Mich., and Glenn Stangland of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Tamara, Tiffany, Tara, Chad, Heather, Travis, and Craig; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Cal Hile.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Lois Cannon officiating. The burial will follow in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
