WALGREENS ROBBERY: Still no charges filed

February 16, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — “There are no pending charges on the Walgreens robbery at this time,” Whitley County Prosecutor Matt Rentschler said today. Contrary to other area news sources, no charges have been filed in connection to the robbery at the Walgreens in Columbia City last week.

Reports said that Troy and Nichole Fritz of Fort Wayne were arrested in connection to the local heist.

“Mr. and Mrs. Fritz were charged with separate charges than our robbery,” Columbia City Police Chief Tim Longenbaugh said. “No paperwork has been filed from our department through Allen County.”

According to Longenbaugh, an initial report has been submitted to the Whitley County Prosecutor’s Office and is under review.

The robbery happened Feb. 8 at the Walgreens on North Line Street, mirroring numerous robberies in the Fort Wayne area.
