Veterans services grow, creating space concerns

COLUMBIA CITY — Veterans in Whitley County have a specialist enlisted to assist in a variety of ways.

From helping to determine benefits to leading veterans through state and federal applications, Veteran Service Officer (VSO) Gene Rohrer is on-hand to support those who have served the country.

However, the office, which is located in the Whitley County Government Center, West Van Buren Street, Columbia City, is becoming too small to handle the work flow and needs of the department.

“I’m happy,” Rohrer said at a recent County Commissioner meeting. “It’s been working well, but the office is small.”
