Verona Harmeyer, 89, a long-time resident of Lake Township died at 12:04 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at the Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne.
She was born in Fort Wayne Dec. 23, 1921, a daughter of Charles D. and Clara (Linnemeier) Schaefer.
On Jan. 24, 1942, she was married in Fort Wayne to Fred Harmeyer, who preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1976.
She was also preceded in death by two sons Kenneth F. Harmeyer in 1976 and Richard Harmeyer in 2004; by a sister Eleanor Emenhiser; and by a brother Karl Schaefer.
The surviving relatives include her children Patricia A. Johnson of Fort Wayne and James Harmeyer of Douglas, Wyo.; her brother Robert F. Schaefer of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
There will be no public funeral services or calling hours. A private family graveside service will be held at the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco. Rev. Lane Burgland, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will follow.
