VALENTINE'S DAY SNOWFALL: Early morning snow adds time to travel

February 14, 2012

Light snow is falling across Whitley County this morning, Valentine's Day.

Whitley County had recorded about two inches of snow by 5 a.m. Freezing drizzle is also adding to already slick road conditions.

Local roads are snow-covered and slick. Stopping at intersections or trying to slow in a hurry will be nearly impossible until road conditions improve. A very small number of slide-offs and minor non-injury accidents have happened in the region.

Road conditions will be very slick for the morning commute. As traffic volume increases on the roads, accidents and additional slide-offs will increase. Weather officials note motorists should plan extra time if traveling this morning.

The weather could prompt school delays .
