UPGRADES: Gutting begins for Col. City Park’s pavilion

December 3, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — With the chimney taken down and gutting in progress, Columbia City’s Park Department hopes to have new bathrooms in the pavilion at Morsches Park by next spring.

“The bathrooms down here weren’t nice, and it’s one of those things that has needed an upgrade for some time,” said Columbia City Director Mark Green.

Before the work began in the pavilion, there were two sets of men’s and women’s restrooms — one set accessible from the inside and one from the outside.

“What we’ll be doing is taking out the walls in between those bathrooms and making one large men’s restroom and one large women’s restroom,” said Green. “Both of them will be accessible from the inside and the outside.”

The project has a $5,000 budget, but Green said much of the construction cost work is being completed by the park department.
