Undefeated no more: ’Busco drops first conference game since 2010

October 12, 2013

CHURUBUSCO — With a share of a conference championship still in play, Churubusco’s football team has one week left in the regular season to bounce back from its first loss.

The Class 2A third-ranked Eagles fell to visiting Fairfield Friday, 35-14. While the win snapped an undefeated season for ’Busco, it did not shake the hopes of a shared Northeast Corner Conference championship.

“We still have a shot at the conference title, that’s the silver lining in the whole thing,” said Churubusco Head Football Coach Paul Sade. “We can still win football games and still challenge for a conference title.”
Churubusco is now 7-1 for the year and 6-1 in the NECC. Fairfield finishes with a 7-1 mark in the NECC.

Friday’s loss was the first in NECC play for the Eagles since 2010. It was Fairfield who beat ’Busco that year as well.
