Tuesday sports schedule washed out, Wednesday cancelations

   Heavy rain and thunderstorms across northern Indiana canceled high school sports for Whitley County schools Tuesday and Wednesday.
   For Wednesday, Columbia City baseball and softball are canceled due to wet conditions. Whitko girls' tennis will be moved to May 4 at home against Rochester. Also canceled are: Lady Wildcats varsity and junior varsity softball and junior varsity baseball.

   A busy night for Columbia City was called off. Baseball's home game against Leo was postponed with no make-up date set yet.
   The Eagles golf team was supposed to play host to Homestead at Eagle Glen Golf Course and will have to make it up another day.
   Both track and field teams for Columbia City were forced to push back conference meets. The Lady Eagles were set to host DeKalb and Norwell while the boys squad was headed to DeKalb.
   Despite not having a game scheduled Tuesday, softball for City had two other rain outs set make-up dates. A county rivalry game at Whitko will now be played at Whitko May 3. A home game against Warsaw canceled Saturday was reschedule for April 28 for both junior varsity and varsity.
   Churubusco had track and field meets against NECC foes pushed back to later this month.
   The boys trip to Central Noble was pushed back to April 27. The Lady Eagles will head to Prairie Heights Thursday.
   The likes of ’Busco softball, baseball, golf and tennis all had events Tuesday canceled by the weather. No make-up dates have been set for any of those.
   Whitko had three games canceled that included JV baseball, JV softball and varsity girls' tennis. No make-up dates have been announced yet.
