TRACTOR DEAL: Local man accused of selling meth in fields
COLUMBIA CITY — A South Whitley man appeared in Whitley County Circuit Court for an initial hearing Monday after allegedly dealing methamphetamine from a tractor in March and April.Gerald Michel, 19, was arrested Nov. 11 after two arranged buys turned up evidence of one gram of methamphetamine.Between the two buys, Michel was paid $100 for zipper bags containing a white crystal substance, later identified as methamphetamine.According to a Whitley County Drug Task Force case report, Michel made the deals March 20 and April 19 in fields along Ind. 205 and Ind. 5 — meeting the buyer with his tractor and making one full pass through the fields during each buy.For a more in depth look at this story, see the Dec. 5 issue of The Post and Mail.
