TOOLS FOR SCHOOL: Annual giveaway helps 214 children

Sharon Shephard, president of the Women’s Auxilary, volunteers at the Salvation Army of Whitley County’s school supply giveaway Saturday. Families were able to receive backpacks and supplies to help prepare their children for the upcoming school year.

COLUMBIA CITY — More than 90 families and 200 children benefited from the Salvation Army of Whitley County’s school supply giveaway. Each year, the nonprofit organization gathers a variety of needed items and backpacks from donors who want to see children are not without the supplies they need when heading off to school.
