Tippecanoe Valley tops Wildcats, 55-14

AKRON — Whitko closed out the regular season with a loss to the top team in the Three Rivers Conference, Tippecanoe Valley, Friday in Akron.

The Vikings won a decisive 55-14 over the Wildcats, who are now preparing for the opening round of sectionals next week, as Whitko hosts the Garrett Railroaders.

Tippy Valley came out to a 21-7 lead in the first quarter. Whitko’s touchdown came with 3:17 to go in the quarter with a 2-yard run by Tanner Hughes. Hughes led Whitko in rushing with 51 yards on 14 carries.

The Vikings tacked on two more TDs in the second quarter, and Whitko’s Connor Stouder scored the ’Cats’ second and final touchdown with 6:27 to go in the half. Stouder had a 9-yard touchdown carry, three receptions for 45 yards and 10 rushing yards.

Tippecanoe Valley added another 20 points in the second half. Whitko quarterback Alex Stoddard had eight completions on 18 attempts.
