Thomas Hesting, 69

Thomas E. Hesting, 69, of Columbia City, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at his home.
Born Dec. 20, 1943, in Huntington, he was the son of Walter and Lucille Margaret (Bauer) Hesting.
Tom spent his lifetime in Nix Settlement, Tunker, Collins and has lived at his present home since 1979.
He graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1962. He also later in life took nursing courses at IPFW.
On Oct. 17, 1964, he married Sherry D. Parsons at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Willard, OH.
He worked in Fort Wayne and Chicago for International Harvester from 1963 and retired in 2000 as line worker from the Indianapolis plant.
Most recently he drove school bus for Whitley County Consolidated Schools. He was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, UAW and H.O.G.
Survivoring relatives include five children, Chantel M. Hesting of Carmel, Chad M. (Amy) Hesting of Fort Wayne, Tiffany A. (Andrew Sprague) Hesting of Charleston, S.C., Zachary A. (Amy) Hesting of Columbia City and Mary T. Sullivan of Bozeman, Mont.; five grandchildren and companion, Nancy Farber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sherry D. Hesting and stepfather, Omer LeRoy Amburn.
Per Tom’s wishes visitation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 S. Line St., Columbia City.
Funeral mass will immediately follow at 10 a.m. at the church. Committal rites and burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Nix Settlement. A Celebration of Life luncheon will take place at noon at the St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church Fellowship Hall.
DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City has been entrusted with the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Hesting’s memory to The Center for Non Violence, Fort Wayne. Envelopes will be available through the funeral home.
