TAX PASSED: County Council votes in favor of Public Safety LOIT

Staff Writer

Whitley County Council members voted in favor of a .25 percent Public Safety Income Tax this morning.

Following a public hearing, council members discussed lowering the tax rate, but voted 4-2 in favor of the .25 percent rate that was previously defeated in early October.

The tax is meant to help the county's General Fund and will take affect in 2016.
