COLUMBIA CITY — Contrary to rumors circulating, Whitley County Salvation Army director Pat Mossburg, the local organization is alive and well.
“Nothing has changed; we’re still here,” Mossburg said this morning.
She said that over the weekend, she had gotten several e-mails asking her if the local Salvation Army was closing its doors.
Mossburg said the Salvation Army is not leaving the community and is stronger than ever and doing the most good in Whitley County.
While unsure how the rumor got started, Mossburg did say she had been sick, and out of the office for a couple of weeks. During her illness, she posted a note on the door directing people to call a number for services.
The Salvation Army office is located at Eagle Quest Church. Regular hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and other times by appointment. Call the local office at 248-1711.
Mossburg said the Salvation Army is still offering its hygiene pantry and rental assistance and is seeking donations for the pantry. The organization is also looking for Angel Clippers coupon clippers, or people willing to clip and donate coupons.
“The Whitley County Salvation Army has been here since 1937 and we’re not going anywhere,” she said.
