COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County’s Dazzlers, a special needs cheerleading group, is headed to Myrtle Beach, Fla. March 14 to 17.

A competition is on the itinerary for the girls as well as some “fun.”

“This is such a great chance for the girls,” said coach Vanessa Bills. “For some this will be the first time they ever see the ocean. Entire families are going and using it as a vacation. It’s just a really good opportunity for everyone.”

But the trip does not come without a price.

“We could use some donations,” said Bills. “I don’t want to deplete all our funds and leave us short for next year.”

Some contributions have already found its way to the Dazzlers. Lodging was donated for the group as well as the use of an area church’s bus.

“We are still holding fundraisers to help cover the other expenses,” Bills said.

A Zumbathon is set for March 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Whitley County YMCA.
