South Whitley police find meth lab

March 2, 2011

COLUMBIA CITY — Police in South Whitley, assisted by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police, parlayed a routine traffic stop into the discovery of yet another methamphetamine lab in Whitley County.
According to a press release from the Whitley County Drug Task Force, South Whitley Deputy Marshall Chuck LeWallen conducted a traffic stop on Isaiah A. Neer, 26 of South Whitley.
Neer was arrested for driving while suspended, police said, but a subsequent search of his vehicle and home netted a “one-pot” methamphetamine lab, along with an unspecified amount of the drug and pre-cursors for manufacturing meth.
Neer was booked in Whitley County Jail at 7:05 p.m. Monday and was booked on suspicion of dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, possession of chemicals with the intent to manufacture and maintaining a common nuisance.
The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team was called in to take the meth lab apart, according to the sheriff’s department.
