SOCK IT TO 'EM: Coesse battles hunger

COLUMBIA CITY — Local elementary school students recognized the battle against hunger, and stepped into the fight in a personal way.

Coesse Elementary School has holding food drives to help support three local food banks. Thursday, the students saw the fruits of their labor.

In total, 1,502 canned goods were collected. Through fundraising, the students also netted $959.46. The food and money will go to the food banks at St. Paul of the Cross, Community of Hope and Grace Lutheran Church.
