COLUMBIA CITY — “It’s a grand night for singing,” as the popular Broadway tune says.
A special evening is being planned for elementary school students who might be interested in singing with Whitley Community Children’s Choir (WCCC).
Thursday, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., children and parents can visit the choir at Northern Heights Elementary School, north of Columbia City.
Those attending should enter the school through door three.
This is a no-obligation opportunity to participate with the choir, the night is just to “try it and see if there is an interest in joining.”
“This is a night of stress-free fun,” said WCCC Director Becky Walter. “The director from Fort Wayne Children’s Choir will be there to work with the kids, which is a great opportunity.”
Afterwards, visitors will be able to share pizza with the current choir members.
“It will be a good chance for people to see that our choir is like a family,” Walter said. “We are friends and all very close.”
Whitley Community Children’s Choir is an ensemble of the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir and is in its third year.
Children as young as age eight and as old as 15 can join the choir. Walter said the skill level is varied and all levels of talent are welcomed.
