Simmons: ‘Innovative’ educator

Editor’s note: The Difference Maker is a series spotlighting Whitley County’s best. For the next 13 weeks, each Monday, The Post & Mail will feature a school employee.

COLUMBIA CITY — In the School Edition of The Post & Mail’s Difference Maker series, Shelly Simmons, a fifth grade teacher at Northern Heights Elementary School, is the first to be recognized.

She has been a teacher for seven years at NHES, and Principal Jacob Hoag calls Simmons, “engaging.”

Each school campus had the chance to pick one employee they wanted to name their Difference Maker. As part of their selection process, principals, faculty, parents and event students commented on the selected Difference Maker.
