COLUMBIA CITY — A pair of Fort Wayne men were caught stealing items from a church and homes in Columbia City last month.

Joshua Paff, 31, and Michael Holloway, 34, were caught in the early morning hours by Columbia City Police Officer Tim Pittenger May 27 after dispatchers received a tip of suspicious people on South Line Street, near St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church.

Witnesses said they saw the men get into a van and head north through an alley.

Pittenger spotted the vehicle, and saw a man walking out of an open garage with a large patio umbrella.

“I noticed that both of them were wearing gloves and it was 70 degrees out,” Pittenger said in court documents.

Holloway admitted to Pittenger that the pair was out collecting scrap. He admitted he was in the garage to look for items to take.
