COLUMBIA CITY â Whitley County Consolidated Schools Board of School Trustees (WCCS) approved an agreement with a marketing company Monday.
Big Idea Company will partner with the district to provide professional services for community outreach and communication. The agreement passed by a 7-0 vote.
WCCS hopes the company can be a positive influence for the district in this period of educational choice.
âIt is key to do this to entice students from other areas,â said board member Brooks Langeloh. âWith the voucher system, we could wake up tomorrow with all of our students gone. When the students leave, the money leaves.â
WCCS Superintendent Pat OâConnor was in favor of the agreement not from a competition standpoint, but from looking at the positives of the district.
âI donât support the idea of competition among students,â she said. âStudents should all be winners and should all go to quality schools. People can vote with their feet and they do have a choice. I want them to choose our district.â
