Roger Knight, 51

Roger D. Knight, 51, of Columbia City, passed at his home in the arms of his wife and surrounded by family at 2:55 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013.
He was born Sept. 1, 1962, in Hazard, Ky. a son of Russell and Ruby (Lewis) Knight. He completed his education at Columbia City Joint High School.
On Aug. 31, 1985, he was united in marriage to Roxanne E. DeYoung. They made their home in Columbia City until 1988 when they moved to their at Big Lake. In June 2012 they returned to Columbia City.
He was employed 10 years at Heckman’s Sani Service, six years at S & L Truck Stop and 12 years at Parrish Leasing delivering Edy’s Ice Cream.
He was a member of Washington Center United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Roxanne; a daughter, Kim (Ned) Raver of Columbia City; four grandchildren, Christopher (Jon Swindle) Knight, Taya (Justin) Lapkin, Kyle Raver and Kristina (Nick Rudkin) Raver; two great-grandchildren, Riley “Squirt” Lampkin and Hailee “Booger” Raver; two brothers, Homer (Pat) Knight of Columbia City and Russell (Imogene) Knight of North Manchester; and a sister, Carolyn (Robert) Burkhead of Vicco, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Lou Pratt and Patricia Galbreath; and a brother, George Knight.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
