Robert Wayne Stevens, 48, of Columbia City, died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 7, 1965, in Galesburg, Ill., a son of Jack L. and Carole Anne (Pittman) Stevens. His formative years were spent in Elmore. He graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard in Illinois and South Bend.
A bass guitar player for several bands, he also worked for Godfrey Marine in Syracuse for more than 17 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Becca (Anthony) Bardsley of California and Kara Stevens of Syracuse; his parents, Jack and Carole Stevens of Elmore, Ill.; a brother, Joe (Tammy) Stevens of Niceville, Fla.; two sisters, Starla (Glen) Knox of Holiday, Fla. and Jackie (Gari) Lofgren of Gilson, Ill.; and his companion, Rileyene Snook of Columbia City.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Elmore United Methodist Church, Elmore, Illinois with visitation one hour prior to service at the church. The burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Visitation will also be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Preferred memorials are to Juvenile Diabetes Association. Condolences may be sent to www.smithandsonsfuneralhome.com
