Rickey Moyer, 57

SOUTH WHITLEY — Rickey T. “Rick” Moyer, 57, of rural South Whitley, died Sunday evening, Aug. 21, 2011 in the emergency room at Parkview Whitley Hospital where he was transported after becoming suddenly ill at his home.
He was born May 27, 1954 in Columbia City, a son of Joseph Denver and Mary Deloris (Anderson) Moyer.
His formative years were spent in rural South Whitley.
He graduated from Whitko High School.
On June 3, 1972 he was united in marriage to Jill E. Fry. They made their home south of South Whitley for the past 39 years.
He has been employed at Whitley Manufacturing for the last 38 years.
His church membership was with Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Jill; three children, Shawna R. (Michael) McDonald of Fort Wayne, Christopher T. (Faith) Moyer of North Manchester and Mallory B. Moyer of North Manchester; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Tim Moyer of South Whitley and Terry Moyer of Columbia City; and his mother-in-law, Joanna Fry of Fort Wayne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
